Serum separator tubes are not acceptable. Specimens collected just before or within 15 minutes of the next antibiotic dose represent the trough levels. Specimens obtained within 15-30 minutes after the end of I.V. infusion or 45-60 minutes after an IM injection or 90 minutes after oral intake represent the peak levels.
What to submit:
1 mL aliquot of serum; minimum 0.5 mL.Please submit a separate frozen aliquot for this test. It may not be combined with any other test requiring a frozen aliquot.

None.
 
Specimen Processing Instructions:
Centrifuge and immediately separate serum specimens from the cells into clean, plastic, screw-capped vial(s).
Transport temperature:
Frozen.
Specimen stability:
Room Temperature: Unacceptable. Refrigerated: Unacceptable. Frozen: 3 months.
Rejection criteria:
Room temperature or refrigerated specimen unacceptable.
