Led by Dr. Kai Zhang, this subspecialty group is focused on diagnostic hematopathology in both neoplastic and non-neoplastic hematologic diseases. Comprehensive analyses including morphology, immunophenotyping by flow cytometry and /or immunohistochemistry and chromosomal and molecular analysis are performed in evaluating hematologic disorders, including:

  • anemia
  • lymphoma
  • leukemia

Clinical specimens typically include:

  • lymph nodes
  • extranodal tissue and organs
  • peripheral blood smears
  • bone marrow biopsies
