Proven Diagnostics receives CAP accreditation
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – June 1, 2010. Proven Diagnostics, a clinical diagnostic laboratory located in Bethlehem, Pa., was recently awarded a two-year accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
Proven Diagnostics is one of only 7,000 CAP-accredited facilities nationwide. Launched last year by Geisinger Health System, Proven Diagnostics provides medical professionals throughout the state access to a full spectrum of clinical laboratory services.

Receiving CAP accreditation demonstrates that Proven Diagnostics has achieved excellence in patient care and safety in the advancement of pathology and laboratory services through education. In addition, the accreditation illustrates that the facility and staff have exceeded regulatory requirements.
To achieve CAP accreditation, laboratories are assessed on their records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. Accreditation is only received upon successful inspections of staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and the overall management of the laboratory.
CAP is a medical society that serves more than 17,000 physician members and the worldwide laboratory community. It is the largest association comprised exclusively of pathologists, and is widely considered the leader in laboratory quality assurance.
